A Recipe Revisited: Passam la Sal, 15 Years On
A Televised Reunion: When Cooking Takes Us Back in Time
A few days ago, we experienced something truly special—an event that reminded us of the importance of audiovisual archives and how our shows can leave a lasting mark on their participants, even years later.
It all started when we received an email from Laura Jiménez, a guest who had once appeared on our cooking show Passam la Sal. She reached out because she wanted a copy of the episode where she had cooked, as she had never actually seen it. So far, nothing out of the ordinary—except for one small detail: the episode was recorded and aired back in 2009!
A Journey into the Past
This request sent us on a real trip down memory lane. In today’s digital age, where everything is available at the click of a button, it’s easy to forget that things used to be different. Fifteen years ago, our programs were stored on DVDs, catalogued by numbers with no fully digitized database listing guests or recipes. Finding a specific episode felt like searching for a needle in a haystack.
A Key Clue: The Memory of a Recipe
After exchanging several emails, Laura remembered a crucial detail that made our search easier: the recipe she had cooked that day. It was a creamy rice dish with pumpkin, a meal that had left a lasting impression on her.
With this valuable clue, we started digging through our physical archives. We went through our old DVDs, tracking down the recipe’s name until we finally found the DVD number and the exact episode. Once we confirmed it was the right one, the next challenge was figuring out how to send it to her in a modern, accessible format.
From DVD to MP4: Reviving Memories in Digital Form
After locating the episode, we converted it from DVD to MP4 so Laura could watch it online. Finally, after 15 years, she could see herself cooking on Passam la Sal! When she received the video, she was deeply moved and incredibly grateful for the effort we put into recovering that piece of her personal history.
She even gave us permission to share this story on shoric.com and entvbox.com, as well as on our social media. On top of that, she asked for our links so she could follow us and stay updated on our latest content.
Television Memories Never Fade
This experience has made us reflect on the true value of television and its archives. A cooking show isn’t just about a recipe—it’s about a shared moment, a lived experience, something that can stay in our memories for decades. Knowing that Laura was able to recover this special memory fills us with joy and reinforces our passion for what we do.
